Oligomeric proanthocyanidins, more commonly known as OPC, are compounds belonging to the class of polyphenols found in significant amounts in grapes, and most abundantly in their seeds. They are combinations of catechin and epicatechin units (monomers) in which there are from two to a maximum of several monomers - mainly dimers and trimers. Thanks to the polyphenolic structure, and therefore numerous OH groups present in the molecule. OPC have unique antioxidant properties, which effectively neutralize free radicals and exert beneficial, health-promoting effects on the body.
