What is Chaga?
Chaga (Inonotus obliquus) is a species of mushroom that grows on the trunks of deciduous trees, usually collected from birch bark. Although its natural range is much of the northern hemisphere, the species is considered endangered in many places due to shrinking natural habitat areas. One of the best preserved regions of occurrence is the pristine regions of Siberia in eastern Asia, where for many years Chaga mushrooms have been used by the local population to prepare healing decoctions in accordance with traditional folk medicine recipes.

Chaga's long-established health-promoting properties are due to the presence of many biologically active components, such as humic acids, melanins, polysaccharides, beta-glucans, polyphenols, as well as trace elements and vitamins.

What is a chromogenic complex?
Each Chaga extract has a complex chemical composition consisting of many different substances, among them polysaccharides, beta-glucans, polyphenols, vitamins and minerals. However, only wild-grown Chaga mushrooms contain the so-called chromogenic complex, a natural composition of humic acids and melanin.

Although the vast majority of commercially available extracts are standardised on polysaccharides, it is actually the chromogenic complex that constitutes the essence of wild Chaga mushrooms and is considered to be the main active ingredient that determines their unique health-promoting properties. Unprocessed, naturally growing Chaga mushroom contains approximately 15% chromogenic complex.

Where do we source our extract from and what makes it different?
Chaga mushrooms, from which our extract is made, are harvested only from the bark of birches growing wild in sparsely populated and non-industrialised areas of Siberia. With no industry and harsh climatic conditions, our Chaga is pollution-free and full of valuable nutrients.

Unlike many commercially available products derived from cultivated mushrooms, our extract is made only from wild grown Chaga mushrooms, ensuring a full spectrum of active substances, in natural proportions, and a high content of chromogenic complex (40%).
