Ways of obtaining MK7:

There are two ways to obtain vitamin K2 - in the process of fermenting soy or from essential oils.


Soybean fermentation

In the production of vitamin K2 MK-7 in the fermentation process, bacterial preparations and special solvents are added to the soy. As a result of using this method, many side-effects are always formed, including other menaquinones, e.g. MK-4, -8, -9. Many of them are unnecessary or have yew forms (they are not bioavailable). The amount of such impurities depends on the quality of the fermentation.

Because soy is used in production, the final extract may also contain allergens. Unfortunately, there is often no information on whether the soy used is genetically modified. Vitamin K2 obtained in this way is determined by the producers: "from natto", "from soy fermentation", etc.


Extract from plant essential oils

The method of obtaining pure K2 MK-7 from essential oils was invented in 2006 by Norwegian researcher Dr. Inger Reidun Aukrust and his team. They found a way to produce pure all-trans MK-7 (menaquinone-7, MenaQ-7) vitamin K2 from natural plant essential oils: geraniol * and farnesol **, in a strictly controlled organic synthesis process (synthesis means the process of combining, not confusing from synthetic - artificial).


There are two types of vitamin K2 molecules - cis and trans. Cis forms are biologically inactive, while trans forms have full biological potential. Most of the products with vitamin K2 available on the market come from the fermentation process and contain K2 in cis and trans forms.


The advantage of obtaining K2 from essential oils is that only vitamin K2 is obtained in pure, best and fully bioavailable *** form MK-7. And this form is in the products of Dr. Jacob's.
