ForMeds PRENACAPS Folate (Folic acid for pregnant women) 60 vegan capsules

PRENACAPS is a line of dietary supplements intended for women who are trying to conceive, are pregnant and breastfeeding.

PRENACAPS FOLATE contains 800 µg of a biologically active form of folic acid (Quatrefolic®) with high bioavailability proven by research.

The Importance of Folic Acid During Pregnancy and Breastfeeding:
Folic acid is one of the most important compounds for the developing baby in the belly. Mother's deficiency of this ingredient is one of the reasons for the development of, among others, defects of the child's nervous system. Folic acid is also important for the health of a future mother and a nursing mother. It helps in the proper production of blood and maintaining the proper metabolism of homocysteine. In addition, it supports the functioning of the immune system and contributes to the reduction of fatigue and fatigue.
The team of the Polish Gynecological Society recommends supplementation with folic acid to women at least 6 weeks before applying for a child and its continuation during pregnancy. She also draws attention to the increased demand for folic acid in nursing mothers.

ACTIVE FORM OF FOLIC ACID
To be used by the body, folic acid must be converted into its active form after ingestion. According to the data, on average, every second person in Europe has disturbances in the process of converting folic acid into its active form. Quatrefolic® is an active form that does not require transformation and can be used immediately by the body.

TEST RESULTS Quatrefolic®
Study 1
The study involved groups, each of which received identical doses of Quatrefolic® and folic acid, respectively.
The study showed that:
• Quatrefolic® achieved over 3 times higher maximum concentration of active substance (Cmax ng / ml) 1 h after administration compared to folic acid (diagram 1)
• Quatrefolic® achieved over 9 times higher total bioavailability of the active substance (AUC8h ng / ml h) compared to folic acid (Figure 2).

Study 2
The study compared the bioavailability of Quatrefolic® with calcium L-methylfolate. High bioavailability of both forms has been demonstrated. However, in the case of Quatrefolic®, the maximum concentration of active substance after administration (Cmax nmol / L) was 10% higher than that of calcium L-methylfolate.
