The basics of immunity support
Flu season is in full swing and the illnesses we face often have an acute course. We hear more and more about overcrowded hospitals and the word tridemia is gaining popularity. Indeed - influenza, RSV and Covid have all launched an attack on us. So what can be done to minimise the likelihood of illness?
No doubt the first thing on everyone's mind in such a situation is to boost immunity. But what if vitamin C, vitamin D or even zinc do not have a satisfactory effect? We need to take care of the basics.
First of all, let us answer the question: what exactly is immunity? Immunity is the body's ability to fight off all sorts of intruders, such as viruses, bacteria and fungi. Immune cells are transported to various parts of the body via the lymphatic system - so we need to ensure that it is well patched up. This is best done by following the tips below:
- stay in motion (the best one that makes our body vibrate - i.e. jumping) massage will also be effective,
- drink plenty of water
- do not wear clothes that are too tight,
- work out or go to the sauna to remove toxins from the body through other channels and relieve the lymphatic system.
Another important factor affecting our immunity is the reduction of stress. Stress mobilises our body to fight in a situation of sudden danger, while at the same time shutting down mechanisms that are unnecessary for survival in that situation. Remaining in a state of stress for a long time impairs the functioning of our immunity. This applies to psychological stress (exposure to stress factors), physical stress (too hard training, excessive physical work) or oxidative stress (too much processed food, supply of toxins from cigarettes or alcohol, excess body fat).
Last but not least, a healthy gut is an important part of building our immunity. They are responsible for 80% of it. It is important to populate the intestines with a variety of bacteria and, in order to do this, it is worth choosing a varied menu with plenty of fermented products.
We asked our expert what else we can do to build our immunity every day. Here's his advice:
- Open a window before you go to bed so the temperature is cooler and the air is fresh.
- Give yourself a morning warm-up - 10 squats, 10 jumping jacks, 10 forward lunges, 10 backward jumping jacks - repeat 5 times.
- Make sure you have yoghurts and pickles in your fridge. Introduce them into your daily menu.
