Food intolerance is common among dogs, cats and horses. In some cases, the intolerance can be caused by eating problems, indiscreet eating (like from a trash can), antibiotic treatment, and stress. In other cases, however, the intolerance may be due to the animal's systemic problem, in which case treatment of the cause of the intolerance is necessary. Often at the root of the problem is an increase in the permeability of the animal's gut, which causes the absorption of larger pieces of protein.
