Bio-Zinc is a round, white tablet containing pure, organically bound zinc in the form of zinc gluconate, which shows high absorption in the body. The zinc content of each tablet is 15 mg. This is equivalent to 150% of the reference nutrient value.
  • Zinc is an essential mineral and trace element that is found mainly in cells and to a lesser extent in cell fluid throughout the body. Examples include white and red blood cells that contain a significant amount of zinc. Along with copper, zinc is an important component of the antioxidant enzyme superoxide dismutase (SOD).
  • Zinc plays many different functions in the human body and supports approximately 200 different enzymes, including enzymes necessary for the metabolism of nutrients and enzymes important for the translation and expression of the genetic code.
  • The human body contains about 2-4 g of zinc, which is found in all cells, especially muscles, bones and skin. The body does not store zinc as such, so it is necessary to constantly replenish this mineral. The highest concentrations of zinc in the body are found in the male prostate gland and in sperm.
  • The demand for zinc is especially high in adolescence, and it is also increased in pregnant and breastfeeding women, the elderly, people exposed to stress, people who consume excessive amounts of alcohol, as well as people suffering from excessive sweating and taking diuretics.
  • Zinc is non-toxic in limited amounts. A high intake of zinc for a long time (10-30 times the NRV) can cause a copper deficiency.
  • Simultaneous intake of zinc and iron may have a negative effect on the absorption of zinc in the body. A high calcium intake can also reduce calcium absorption.
