Collagen is very resistant to stretching, it affects skin elasticity, it is the main component of tendons. As a result of aging, collagen is lost from the skin, which contributes to the formation of wrinkles.

Collagen consists of the following amino acids: glycine, proline, and two amino acids not derived directly from ribosomal translation - hydroxyproline and hydroxylysine.
