Folic acid must first be converted to its active form through a series of biochemical steps before it can be used by the body. Metafolin® (L-methylfolate) does not require conversion as it is bio-identical to its bioactive form. In other words, it is "body ready". This can be useful for people whose bodies have difficulty converting folic acid to its active form. The active folic acid contained in this preparation supports heart health.
